在上週就有小道消息在投資界流傳，昨天這個消息被很多家報導出來
這個消息就是美林的CEO - John Thain要求一千萬美金 (10Million)的Bonus
可想而知，這馬上引起廣大民眾的圍勦，加拿大媒體用Shocking來當標題

為什麼會有這麼大的民怨？甚至連同行的公司都覺得不可思議？
其中一個主因是現在的經濟狀況欠佳，而且欠佳的主因還是金融風暴
另一個主因是美林在今年也爆發財務危機，最後是被美國銀行所收購
截至11月底，美林預估是損失117億美金(11.7Billion)

John Thain卻認為他本來就應該享有那一千萬美金的Bonus
因為他說以他為美林所做出的貢獻絕對是值這筆錢，要是沒有他美林的下場可能更慘
"CEO John Thain is pushing for a 2008 bonus of as much as $10M, saying he helped avert what could have been a much larger crisis for the firm. "

或許是輿論壓力太大，John Thain今天出來說他不會要求這筆Bonus
聲明中指出John Thain和另外四位高層將不會要求2008年度Bonus

"Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. chief executive officer John Thain has requested that he receive no bonus for 2008.

According to a company news release, Thain and four top executives will not seek a bonus because of the current financial crisis."
